A quick stop at EMA to catch the An-225 which was parked in a photogenic location. Nice to see this monster in the UK again.

Luton & Heathrow Airports, 23-24 October 2009
Just a few from LTN & LHR, taken from hotels. The weather was crap at Heathrow especially so there was no opportunity for shooting outdoors...maybe next time.

Manchester Airport, 21-22 October 2009
I stayed overnight at Manchester before a trip down south, with mixed results. The light was mostly poor except for some early morning sun on Thursday, during which time landings were on 05R, which meant taking the Runway 2 Trail along the south side of the airport.
16th Sep 2009Sharjah Airport, 16 September 2009
During my week's stay in Dubai, I visited Sharjah with full access to the ramps for photography. Since my last visit in 2001 things have changed considerably here...more passenger flights and less of the unusual aircraft of the past. Still, there was enough of interest to keep my shooting for a couple of hours in temperatures of over 110 degrees!

Dubai Airport, 12 - 17 September 2009
Another week spent in Dubai, spotting and shooting from the comfort of my hotel near the airport. Wall-to-wall sunshine and plenty of landings over the hotel...heaven!

Paris Airports, 20-22 June 2009
Following on from our stop at Geneva, we flew to Paris Orly for a few hours on Saturday morning before taking the Air France coach to Charles de Gaulle. A run over to Le Bourget for the Airshow visitors on Sunday, and then more time at CDG in the sun on Monday.
19th Jun 2009Geneva Airport, 19 June 2009
En route to Paris for the Air Show, Rob and I spent a day at Geneva Airport. Rain was forecast, however it held off until shortly before our flight to Orly at 8.00pm. Always good for biz-jets, today was no disappointment.
27th May 2009Manchester Airport, 27 May 2009
As is often the case, crappy weather blighted what was to be a decent day for football charters. Manchester Utd were in the Champions League final in Rome and among the the more run of the mill scheduled flights were some European carriers not often seen in the UK.
1st Apr 2009Heathrow Airport, 1 April 2009
After returning from Hong Kong and Singapore, I had a full day at Heathrow in the sunshine. Arrivals were on runway 09L all day.

Singapore, Hong Kong & Macau Airports, 26-31 March 2009
An opportunity to take a cheap trip on the A380 resulted in a few days split between Singapore and Hong Kong. Whilst in Hong Kong, I took a trip to Macau on the fast ferry but, sadly, the weather didn't play ball.
11th Mar 2009Dublin Airport, 11 March 2009
A day spent at the photo spot alongside runway 28 at Dublin Airport. Not much sun, but at least there was no rain. Very little variety in movements, though.

UK Road Trip, 12-15 December 2008
Awful weather blighted this trip and photography was almost impossible thanks to thick fog at Stansted, followed by heavy rain at Heathrow and fog again at Manchester.

to 9th Oct 2008
Lanzarote Airport, 3-9 October 2008
I spent a week at one of my favourite spots for aircraft photography, staying at the Beatriz Playa Hotel, less than 1km from the runway's end. There was less variety than on previous visits following some major airline failures, but still plenty of opportunities for close-ups in good light.
7th Sep 2008Manchester Airport, 7 September 2008
As is often the case with Manchester, this trip was blighted by dark skies and, at times, torrential rain. Several XL Airways aircraft were snapped...little did we know that four days later, they would be grounded as their parent company went bust.

24th Jun 2008Fukuoka Airport, 24 June 2008
After my visit to Hiroshima it was on to the final city of my trip, Fukuoka, on the southern island of Kyushu. The airport is very close to the city and is surrounded by residential and industrial buildings. Rain showers scuppered my plan to shoot the approach, so most of these shots were taken from the glass-fronted observation deck on Terminal 3.
23rd Jun 2008Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, Japan, 23 June 2008
On the morning of August 6th, 1945, the world's first atomic bomb exploded 580 metres above the city of Hiroshima, Japan. The city's Peace Memorial Park is located at the hypocentre of the blast and I spent a very sobering couple of hours here en route to Fukuoka. The building now known as Atomic Bomb Dome was only a matter of metres from the bomb's hypocentre, yet it still stands today, one of only a handful of buildings to survive the blast.

Osaka Airports, 22-25 June 2008
After Tokyo I headed down to Osaka, making a quick stop at Itami Airport’s amazing Skypark, a quarter mile long landscaped park overlooking the parallel runways before crossing the city to Kansai Airport and its famous Observation Hall. Dark skies and intense humidity lasted for a full three days.

Tokyo Narita & Haneda Airports, 19-21 June 2008
The second stop on my Japanese tour was Tokyo. Narita handles mostly international flights and Haneda almost exclusively domestic traffic. The Kazakhstan Government put in an appearance at a very wet and windy Haneda with their 767 and Yak-42, although the Yak remained out of camera range.

Nagoya Chubu Airport, 17-18 June 2008
This was the first stop on my tour of Japan. Some good weather and special colours made for a great start to my trip.
13th Jun 2008Farewell Dakota - Teesside Airport, 13 June 2008
I took a twenty minute flight on Air Atlantique / Classic Flight's beautiful DC-3, G-AMPY (painted as KK116, RAF Transport Command) on the Dak's Farewell Tour. She was built in 1943 and entered service with the Royal Air Force Transport Command in 1944, hence the paint job. The aircraft made a tour of UK airports giving enthusiasts the chance to experience the joy of a flight in this amazing plane before a change in EU legislation forced its retirement from passenger service in July.

Manchester Airport UEFA Cup Final Traffic, 13-14 May 2008
Along with hundreds of other photographers, I spent two days at Manchester to catch the Russian arrivals bringing fans for the UEFA Cup Final. Wall to wall sunshine and an easterly wind meant landings on runway 05R and excellent photo opportunities.

Frankfurt Airport, 10-12 May 2008
Three days shooting in the baking hot sun on the observation deck above Terminal 2. Lots of different colour schemes.
9th Apr 2008Dusseldorf Airport, 9 April 2008
I had a full day at Dusseldorf, shooting from the observation decks on Pier B and the airport railway station. Great photo opportunities, and lots of different liveries...including three different Air Berlin colours.

Dubai Airport, 18-19 February 2008
These shots were all taken from the roof garden of my hotel near Dubai Airport. Out of five days at the hotel, only two had landings over the hotel in daylight.

Dubai, 16-19 February 2008
A few shots taken around the creek and Jumeirah area of Dubai. Lots of blue skies.

A cold and stormy December day at Manchester. The weather was shocking but I still managed a few shots...check out the black skies!

Toronto & Niagara Falls, 3-4 September 2007
A few days spent in Toronto with the obligatory day trip to Niagara Falls. Beautiful weather for shooting around Toronto city and harbour, but no blue skies at Niagara.

Glasgow Airport 15-16 May 2007
24 hours at Glasgow Airport to catch the UEFA Cup Final traffic. The weather was great on Tuesday afternoon with beautiful blue skies, but by Wednesday morning, boy had it changed! Star visitor...UB Group A319CJ.

Atlanta Airport, 13-16 April 2007
I spent a few days in the Renaissance Concourse Hotel on the perimeter of Atlanta Airport. The view is unparallelled, but weather conditions were against me most of the time, so not many shots.
3rd May 2006Singapore Airport, 3 May 2006
These shots were taken through the glass windows of the Terminal 1 observation deck at Changi.

Singapore & Kuala Lumpur April 2006
A couple of days each in Singapore and KL, trying to cram in as many sights as possible in a short time.
17th Jan 2005Luna, ULU, 17 January 2005
Quite possibly my favourite band of all time. This was Luna's final UK show before going their separate ways. Sniff.
